Heather's Day 31 & 32

Ha, well, Wednesday was fine for me....until I went home. I had the 2 shakes and stuff for breakfast and lunch, and pork chops, beans, and potato for dinner. However, I ate the entire can of green beans, and two whole potatoes. After dinner I snacked on sorbet, some cheese, some melba toast I believe, veggies and fruit, pretty much anything I could find. So although I didn't eat junk, I just ate way too much food. I didn't go to the gym, either. Not for any good reason, I just didn't want to. I had a lazy, gross night of laying around. Oh yeah, I had a coffee as well.

Yesterday was better. I forgot my drink container here, so no shakes. I had a coffee on the way here, a grilled chicken sandwich and side caesar salad for lunch - although I didn't eat the salad b/c it was nasty - pork chops, corn, potato and cabbage salad for dinner. Later on I had strawberries and vanilla mousse yogourt for a snack. (It is actually better than Cool Whip with berries.) That was it until I went to bed. I went back to the gym yesterday, and had a pretty decent 30 min workout.

UPDATE: The final results are in! It appears I have lost about 8.5 lbs., and almost a full inch from my waist. I will get the exact measurements up sometime this weekend. I have to thank you guys - without this challenge I would have thought I had no willpower in me. This group gave me a reason to stick to something for longer than a day, and each week's progress has motivated me to keep going for one more. I have surprised myself, and I am so ready to keep going for as long as it takes. My goal for the next month will be 5-7 lbs again, and the same therea`fter, ultimately getting down to a weight of 150 lbs. (But I'd probably be happy with 155, too.) If anyone else wants to keep going, I would love to have some company. If I am going to carry on solo, do you guys mind if I keep using this blog?

Points to Ponder: It takes smokers an average of 5-7 tries before they are successful in quitting. Hundreds of thousands of people smoke - thousands more are overweight. It can't be easy. I think everyone learned something about herself this month, and about what they need to do in order to meet their goals. I learned that whether I'm hungry or not, I have to eat snacks during the day, or else I won't be able to stop snacking at night. I also learned that cardiovascular endurance can be improved DRASTICALLY in a short period of time. What did you learn? What could you improve on? What do you need in order to be successful? What are your pitfalls? Remember too, that everyone is their own worst critic; I think you all did really well.

There is no such thing as quitting when you're on a diet. Maybe this week you ate poorly ... doesn't mean you're finished, it's just a set-back. If you're not happy with where you're at right now, get back on the horse and make a change. So here I go, saddling up for the next few months. Who's coming along for the ride??
